Let’s work together to find your child’s strengths and ignite their belief in themselves.

Born to teach…

Kate is a kind, friendly & vibrant person whom I believe was born to teach. Her positive approach to tutoring my daughter Emma has shone through in every session she has conducted for her – both in-person & via zoom during Lockdowns over the past year.

Kate’s relaxed & welcoming learning environment has seen Emma progress immensely at her own pace. Emma finds the course content engaging & as a result, and I have seen her confidence soar to amazing heights. Kate’s sessions are always well structured & Emma says, “they are fun”.

Kate puts a great deal of effort into planning the lessons & the progress reports she provides are in-depth & super informative. As a parent, it is a wonderful feeling to drop my daughter off at Kate’s place full of enthusiasm & to see her smiley face an hour later, knowing that she is fizzing inside with a great sense of achievement. I recommend Kate’s tutoring services to anyone seeking assistance with their child’s learning journey.

Gone above and beyond…

Kate Hey has made a phenomenal difference in our son’s life. He spent years struggling with dyslexia at school and, as a result, was struggling in all aspects of his life. Kate has gone above and beyond and helped with his academics and, more importantly, confidence in himself to achieve. Kate is so passionate and really believed in him and gave him so many skills and strategies to succeed, and as a result, our son is an entirely different child now and achieving at school. Kate is so knowledgeable and really cares. I would highly recommend Kate. She is amazing!

Incredible relationships with both of my boys…

Kate has been working with two of our boys over the last two years. She has built an incredible relationship and rapport with them both, which has seen them enjoying their time in school when they are with her.  Kate has worked hard with our boys for their learning and helped them understand how they learn; she has empathy and bucketloads of kindness, which means she is successful in helping them become successful.  We would recommend Kate to anyone looking to get that extra help with their children’s learning, especially those who might experience neurodivergence. Her patience and understanding have been awesome.

Whānau Seminars & Professional Development

I recently attended Kate’s Dare to be Dyslexic public talk at the Art and Living Space in Pauatahanui, and I was truly impressed! Kate is not only an engaging speaker but also a gifted teacher and a passionate advocate for children and their families. I came away with a deeper understanding of my child’s learning style—and even discovered new insights about my own.

She shared a wealth of practical resources, along with clear, down-to-earth advice that was easy to put into practice. Thanks to Kate’s guidance, many of us now have tools that help to create a calmer, more supportive family life at home.

Wow, what an amazing seminar you put on for us. You did such a great job! And such a beautiful venue. We are so lucky to have found you to help us and Asher.  I found myself feeling emotional in parts as so much resonated with me. Jeremy and I have taken away so many tips and tricks.  Thank you so much for the seminar today. Those tips are gold.
Forever grateful. Thanks again, Rochelle & Jeremy

We are going to camp tomorrow. AJ was in and out of his room, saying he couldn’t sleep. After the 50th time, I nearly had enough. Then I thought. I know what to do. I sat on his bed, and I said Let’s do the figure 8. So he’d done about 3 circles before he burst into tears, saying he’s scared we’ll be late for the ferry. We kept doing the figure 8, and I could see him calming down. We talked about the 5 fingers and decided to hold the anxiety little finger.  I was actually stunned at the effect this had on him. Big sister came in and we told her about the five fingers – she knew exactly what angry finger was she lay down with him for a few mins and when I came back they had talked about things they were grateful for. Tears in my eyes.  You were a fabulous presenter today. Well done! How many kids do you think I’ll teach figure 8 and 5 fingers to while I’m away at camp??!
